-
Now has an icon.
-
Added “Closing window quits Tensai” checkbox to preference window.
-
Basic text resizing available in “View” menu.
-
Results shouldn’t use any CSS content tags for things that people might want to copy & paste. List numbers are still uncopyable.
-
Some compounds and readings now have an asterisk (*). Hovering the cursor over them will give you special information, such as sudoku having an irregular reading.
-
Added “Drag this to a vocab list to add this entry.” pop-up text for the entry handles.
-
Priority entries are now marked with ★ instead of •.
-
Increased the default font size a little.
-
kanjidic2 results now include grade info.
-
Added contextual menu items for text selected in result view. Spotlight, Google, Dictionary, Goo, plus installed dictionaries.
-
Made it so editing the search field doesn’t pre-fetch any results.
-
Selecting something from the search history now causes an immediate search.
-
Other things I’m probably forgetting.

-
Dictionaries and search types have been moved into more visible popup buttons in the toolbar. Keyboard shortcuts have been added for both — Cmd-Option-#’s for Dictionaries and Cmd-#’s for search types. Example: Cmd-Option-1 selects JMdict and Cmd-2 changes to a “Begins With” search.
-
If a “textual” search in KanjiDic2 contains any kanji, the returned results will be all of the kanji contained in the string.
-
Search results are pre-fetched whenever the user stops typing. The status text in the main window says it “Found # entries” to tell how many results will be returned if enter is pressed, and it says “Displaying # entries” to show how many entries are currently displayed.
-
It’s now possible to cancel an entered search by altering the search string. This was accomplished by threading the display of results.
-
Added a “Look Up in Tensai” system service (keyboard shortcut Cmd-Shift-T) to simplify the “copy text, launch/switch to Tensai, paste text, press enter” workflow.
-
The search field now acts more like the search field in OS X Tiger’s Dictionary app — pressing the up and down arrows and page up and down keys scrolls through the results instead of moving the cursor in the search field. Also, Command-Up and Home go to the top of the results, and Command-Down and End go to the end of the results.
-
The search field is always active when Tensai starts up.
-
The search field stays actived and selected after entering a search.
-
Clicking on the dock icon makes the search field active and selects the current query.
-
The main window’s toolbar now defaults to Icon Only mode.
-
Vocab lists should now always be sorted alphabetically.
-
Vocab lists can now be deleted with the delete key.
-
Deleting vocab lists brings up a confirmation dialog.
-
Dragging entries into the vocab list drawer and dropping them somewhere other than an existing vocab list creates a new list containing the dragged entries.
-
Checking for updates now happens daily rather than weekly.
-
Update checking can now be turned off/on in preferences.
-
Many more bug fixes and interface enhancements.
